The Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC) warmly welcomes the Gujarati community in and around Edmonton.

As a non-profit organization, GGAC is dedicated to preserving and promoting Gujarati culture, heritage, history, and traditions.

Through various cultural, social, and religious initiatives, we strive to strengthen community bonds and pass on our rich legacy to future generations.

  • Hitesh Patel

    President

    Mr. Hitesh Patel, President of the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada, has been a driving force behind the organization’s growth and success. A dedicated member since its inception in 2008, he has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to community service through his extensive volunteer work. Alongside his accomplishments as a successful businessman, Mr. Patel has balanced his professional life with a strong passion for giving back to the community. Throughout his journey with GGAC, he has served in several key roles, including Vice President of Programming and Director, where he played an integral part in shaping the organization’s initiatives. Known for going above and beyond, he has been instrumental in ensuring that all GGAC events are executed to the highest standards. Supported by his loving wife and two sons, Mr. Patel continues to lead with dedication and vision, further strengthening the association’s impact and success.

  • Ashish More

    Vice President (Programming)

    Ashish More has been serving as a Vice President (Programming) of the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC). Ashish has served as a Director since 2024. Originally from Vadodara, Gujarat, he has called Edmonton home for the past 20 years, where he lives with his wife, Bindiya, and their two daughters, Mansi and Ayushi. A professional Engineering Technologist with 16 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, Ashish has been actively involved with GGAC for over a decade. His deep appreciation for the dedication and hard work that drive the organization has fueled his passion for community engagement. At GGAC, Ashish believes in fostering an inclusive environment where differences are celebrated, meaningful connections are built, and lasting memories are created. Through teamwork and shared experiences, he is committed to honoring the richness of Gujarati culture and the unity of the community.

  • Pranshu Patel

    Vice President (Admin)

    Pranshu Patel currently serves as Vice President (Admin) of the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC). He has been involved with the organization since its founding in 2008, initially contributing as a volunteer and providing ongoing support over the years. In the 2024-26 term, he was appointed as a Director, offering a fresh perspective to the association. Pranshu is also helping GGAC become more visible on social media and strengthen its digital presence. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Alberta, graduating in 2014. He is a successful multiple business owner and is married with a loving wife and two young children, Zeana (daughter) and Avyaan (son)

  • Raj Thakkar

    Treasurer

    My name is Raj Thakkar, and I am honored to serve as the Treasurer of the Garvi Gujarat Association Canada (GGAC). Originally from Gujarat, India, my journey took me to Uganda, where I met my wife, Kiran, before we made Edmonton our home in 2019. We are proud parents to our son, Meet, and as a family we value staying connected to our Indian heritage and passing our culture on to the next generation. Since 2019, I have been actively involved with GGAC as a Director, working alongside dedicated volunteers to celebrate our heritage and bring our community together. GGAC holds a special place for me because it keeps our traditions alive while creating a strong sense of belonging for families in Canada. Professionally, I am the owner of J&G Urethanes Ltd and Strathcona Spray Foam and Concrete Lifting, specializing in spray foam insulation and concrete lifting. Outside of work, I enjoy playing cricket, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

  • Neil Shah

    Secretary

    Neil Shah, currently serving as the Secretary of Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC), has been an active member of the organization since 2015. With a strong passion for community service, he has consistently supported GGAC’s initiatives and cultural events over the years. Professionally, Neil works as a Software Consultant at CGI, bringing analytical thinking and technical expertise to his work. His dedication to fostering community connections and helping organize meaningful initiatives makes him a valued member of the GGAC leadership team.

  • Jignesh Patel

    Director

    Jignesh, based in Edmonton, Alberta, is a dynamic and forward-thinking individual with a passion for growth and creativity. Actively involved with the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC) since 2016, he has contributed as a dedicated volunteer in various events. Now, he proudly serves as the Vice President of Administration for the 2024–25 term. Known for his curiosity and commitment to excellence, Jignesh thrives on overcoming challenges and embracing new opportunities, both professionally and personally. With a keen eye for innovation and a strong desire to make a meaningful impact, he remains dedicated to learning, connecting, and giving back to the community.

  • Ronak Parikh

    Director

    Ronak Parikh, currently serving as a Director for GGAC, has been an integral part of the community for past few years. Starting as a passionate volunteer, he has played a key role in shaping and enhancing the experience for the community. With a background as a Digital Product Owner at Servus Credit Union, he brings a unique blend of innovation and organization to all the events. His dedication, fresh ideas, and commitment to fostering a vibrant community make him an invaluable part of the team.

  • Jasmina Jariwala

    Director

    Jasmina Jariwala, moved from Gujarat, India, to Edmonton in 2015, she has embraced Canada as her home while staying deeply connected to her roots. With a background in Fashion Design and a Diploma in Medical Office Assistance, she currently works as a Medical Office Administrator. Now residing in Beaumont with her husband and their two wonderful children—a son and a daughter—she finds inspiration in her family’s entrepreneurial spirit. Her husband, a business owner with a primary focus on IT software, has motivated her to actively contribute to the community through volunteering. Passionate about making a difference, Jasmina is committed to fostering a strong and inclusive community through her role as a Director of the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC).

  • Pritesh Chavda

    Director

    Pritesh Chavda has been a member of GGAC since 2014 and became a director on the GGAC committee in 2024. He is married with two children—one son and one daughter. He joined the GGAC team to help strengthen the community and pass on their culture to future generations.

  • Ruchi Ranpura

    Director

    Ruchi has been actively volunteering with GGAC since 2018 and has consistently contributed to community initiatives through her leadership and collaborative approach. She holds a Diploma in Electrical Engineering along with an Advance diploma in Electronics and communications engineering with a strong professional background in the IT industry working with a media company, she brings valuable experience in organization, technology, and process improvement. Alongside her corporate career, she successfully runs her own business and is known for her creative vision, eye for new ideas, and ability to introduce fresh perspectives that support growth and innovation within the community. She is also passionate about encouraging greater participation and empowering more women to step into leadership roles within the community.

  • Pinak Vakil

    Director

    Pinak Vakil is a multifaceted professional who seamlessly bridges high-level financial expertise with a dynamic presence in sports and the arts. Currently a Senior FP&A Analyst at Chemelex with over 16 years of experience in strategic budgeting and financial management, he is equally recognized as a seasoned all-rounder in the Edmonton & District Cricket League. His creative reach extends to the screen as an actor in national commercials and an award-winning filmmaker, having secured "Best Film" honors at both the Jaipur and New Delhi International Film Festivals. A dedicated family man and lifelong learner, Pinak leverages this unique blend of analytical rigor, athletic discipline, and artistic vision to drive impact across every field he enters.

  • Uresha Patel

    Director

    Uresha Patel has been a dedicated community volunteer since 2010, providing invaluable support and services to those in need. Her educational background is impressive, boasting a nursing degree from her home country and a diploma in Registered Massage Therapy from Canada. As a skilled massage therapist, Uresha has worked with diverse clients, honing her expertise and developing a unique approach. Beyond her professional pursuits, Uresha is grateful for the unwavering support of her family, including her two accomplished sons and esteemed husband. Her close-knit joint family has taught her valuable lessons in empathy, leadership, and negotiation, skills she has also learned from her husband, who serves the Hindu community in Alberta at the highest level. Uresha's professional expertise includes public speaking, problem-solving, and creative thinking. Since relocating to Canada, she has come to appreciate the importance of hard work and perseverance in achieving success.

    Hareshkumar Patel proudly serves as a Director of the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC) for the 2026 term. Originally from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, he moved to Canada 25 years ago and has since built a successful life while staying deeply connected to his cultural roots and community. He is a dedicated entrepreneur with over 20 years of business experience in hospitality, food service, and real estate. Through his business leadership, he has demonstrated strong commitment, resilience, and a passion for growth and excellence. He is passionate about giving back to the community and supporting GGAC’s mission to preserve and promote Gujarati culture, heritage, and traditions. As a director, he is committed to strengthening community relationships, supporting cultural initiatives, and contributing to the continued success and growth of GGAC. He lives in Edmonton with his family and remains actively involved in both his professional and community responsibilities.

  • Manish Patel

    Director

    Manish Patel has been a resident of Edmonton since 2005 and has built a career in the engineering field within the oil and gas industry. He has remained actively engaged in the community through volunteer efforts and supporting initiatives that bring people together, and since 2011 has also volunteered with several other non-profit organizations. He believes that strong communities are built through shared values, cultural connection, and service. Through his involvement with the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada, Manish Patel hopes to contribute his time and perspective to initiatives that strengthen community bonds and create opportunities for future generations while continuing to promote a spirit of unity and positive impact.

    Sports Coordinator

    My name is Mehul Palan, and I am currently based in Alberta, Canada. As a long-standing member of the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC), I am excited to begin a new chapter serving the community as a Sports Coordinator. Being selected for this role is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to our community and encourage greater participation in sports and healthy activities.

    I look forward to working with members of the community to organize sporting events, promote teamwork, and create positive experiences for youth and families. Through this role, I hope to strengthen community connections and help bring people together through sports and shared initiatives.

  • Jay Shah

    Youth Coordinator

    I am excited to begin a new chapter with the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC) as a Youth Coordinator. Being selected for this role is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to our community and support the engagement of young members. I look forward to working with the youth to create positive experiences, encourage participation, and build stronger connections within our community. Through this role, I hope to make a meaningful impact while also exploring new opportunities to bring our community together through events and shared initiatives.

  • Vishw Patel

    Coordinator

    Vishw Patel currently works as a Personal Banking Associate at TD Bank. He has been an active member of the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC) since 2016, joining the organization at the age of 12. Over the years, Vishw has contributed as a volunteer and has been involved in several youth events organized by the association, supporting community engagement and cultural initiatives. In addition to his professional career, Vishw also runs a small clothing brand, As Wide, part-time, reflecting his entrepreneurial interests and passion for business. Through his involvement with GGAC, he continues to stay connected with the community and contribute to its growth. Vishw lives in Canada with his family and values giving back through volunteer work and community participation.

  • Dixita Patel

    Gujarati School Coordinator

    Dixita Patel proudly served as a Director of the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC), driven by her passion for women’s empowerment and creating meaningful, lasting change in the community. A natural leader, she deeply believes in the potential of others and is committed to helping them achieve their fullest aspirations. Holding a Master’s in Commerce along with certifications in RPA and PCP, Dixita works as a Controller while balancing her professional and community roles. She resides with her loving husband, in-laws, and two sons, drawing strength from her family’s support. Actively involved with GGAC since 2010, Dixita has also been volunteering with the CRA’s community programs since 2018. Her decision to join the GGAC committee as a Director was fueled by her dedication to empowering young girls and women, ensuring they receive the same encouragement and opportunities she has experienced. Dixita takes immense pride in contributing to GGAC’s mission alongside an incredible team, working to uplift and strengthen the community.

  • Rakesh Patel

    Ex President

    Mr. Rakesh Patel, President of the Garvi Gujarat Association of Canada (GGAC), has been a driving force behind the organization since its inception in 2008. With a Bachelor Degree in Education (B.Ed) and a Master's Degree in Chemistry (M.Sc), he brings both academic excellence and a deep passion for community service. Professionally, he has owned multiple construction businesses for the past 15 years.

    As one of GGAC’s founding directors, Mr. Patel played a crucial role in shaping the organization, often contributing personal resources alongside fellow visionaries to bring their mission to life. Over the past 17 years, he has remained steadfast in his dedication, progressing from a volunteer to various leadership roles, including Director and Executive Director. Having previously served as President, he has once again been entrusted with this esteemed position for the 2024-26 term.

    Beyond his professional and community commitments, Mr. Patel cherishes time with his loving wife Uresha and two teenage sons, Krish & Rudra. Under his leadership, GGAC continues to thrive, benefiting from his unwavering dedication, strategic vision, and dynamic leadership.
